I've been having a really irritating OS X problem lately... minimized windows in the dock, that won't open. They just get stuck in there, and when I click on them nothing happens.
Sometimes I have so many open windows, that I minimize a few to clear my workspace, figuring I will open them back up later. But when I go to do it, say in Photoshop... I see the minimized window in the dock, the little picture is there, but no amount of clicking expands the window. They become perma-docked, and I've lost work (by not saving the document in those windows). The only way out is to quit the app. What the hell? |

Could you:
a. Select the window from within Photoshop's Window menu? b. Change the Dock's minimize effect to see if that resets the pref? c. Force Quit the Dock via Activity Monitor (or top in terminal)? d. Try quitting Photoshop to see if it asks if you want to save changes? I'm surprised you could lose work. I'd assume Photoshop would force you to decide to save or not. Hm. -- I do care. I just want to have a beer while I care. |

You shouldn't do that. That's what Expose is for. Why do you think they introduced it in the first place ? Get used to it. Either you use OS X the way Apple wants you to or you're in trouble. |

brother mighty, I did pretty much all that in that order, except for c. Couldn't select the window in Photoshop. No window was active, and nothing was showing in the Windows menu... but there were five or six minimized windows. I was working on them, went off to do something else, I think the computer slept in the meantime... when I got back, no way to get to them. When I get a minute I'm going to try and recreate my steps, see if I can make it happen again. I actually had noticed some other minimized windows sticking in the dock, prior to this I believe they were Quicktime and Finder windows, I think all I did was relaunch the Finder and quit Quicktime, but it was the same thing... click click click on minimized windows = nothin'. b. I changed some dock prefs... the dock was alive, minimized windows in other apps and the finder worked, just not the ones I was after. c. this one I didn't try, but would have if other things in the dock had frozen up. I usually do this when I get the mag effect freeze. But the dock seemed functional except for the stuck windows. d. When I quit Photoshop, it just quit. Didn't ask me to save. The windows vanished, and the work was lost... the documents were as they were before I had minimized windows. |

Hahaha, yeah, my favorite, Crapsposé. I do use it from time to time to clear all windows and get something off the desktop... but other than that, it's genuinely a worthless piece of crap to me. So isn't the command-tab array. I pretty much stick with the Dock. Trained myself to use it small. But I did notice I was burning it in to the 30" Cinema... so I've been hiding the dock now. |

Putting a machine to sleep with Adobe software running is a big no no. I have had volumes dismount after waking from sleep while Adobe software was running. Abobe is worried to much how the next icons for CS3 will look like than developing software that works.
