Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great pleasure to introduce a man who needs no introduction. His candor, truth-telling, and brashness are perhaps rivaled only by the Master Baiter himself. Many a person has crossed swords with him but few have not been driven half-mad with squelchitis. He is a man that it has been my privilege to help corrupt with PC fever, just as he has helped to corrupt me with Yankee fever (hatred, whatever). When Jake Blues uttered those famous words, words of deeper impact than even "That's one small step for man" he must have been thinking about this man, for no forum concerning OS X, no forum consisting of X-critics, would ever be complete without him. Ladies and gentlemen, in the words of Mr. Blues "We're putting the band back together!" I re-introduce to you Snobby Robby.

Holy crap, brother Brad, what's today? Hang on... May 23rd at THALO.net is Snobby Robby day. Mark it in your iCals, if you can figure out how the hell to do it. I'd give out free baseball bats for him to sign for all of y'all, but hey, we're on a budget. Sure does feel like the band is getting back together, don't it? My brother, you've been missed.

I guess he really needs no introduction if he isn't going to pop in! Robeo, o' Robeo, where art thou?

My Sweet Lord, There isa heaven! Brother thalo with his own site, and Brad moderating it! How much better does it get than this?! And, surprise, surprise, Snobby Robby actually being welcomed to an Apple site....by two gurus, to boot! Tears are practically welling as I prepare myself for that distinct sting one gets when mascara start running uncontrollably. (OK, OK, I don't wear mascara......not that anything is wrong with that, of course) What more can I say in my opening post other than I miss you guys and wish you and your undertaking in this project the very best of luck. It's not only a forum that houses perhaps two of the most genuine, witty, astute and humorous men I've ever encountered as major players, but one where I'm sure an honest opinion will never be frowned upon nor squelched. Equally as important is that "the word" will continue to get out. It goes without saying the impact you two and brother maX (congrats to you as well!) have made in the community, and to have a venue to express those thought, continue the fight, and have one helluva time doing so, warms the heart. It will be informative and fun, no doubt. With apologies to Jake, and Elwood, "It's 106 miles to Cupertino, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it!" Good luck, fellas! Missed ya!! (OK time to recruit new participants to this potentially GREAT site. Don't worry, I'll try to do it as tastefully as possible).

mith, I heard your plea as you were typing it and didn't want to disappoint. Actually, I was waiting for a confimrmation in my e-mail (which I thought was required prior to participating) that never came, but I was able to log in regardless.

I'm blushing, SR. Man, it's good to have you back. I feel like singing "free at last, free at last, thank God we're free at last." But ladies and gentlemen, don't believe a word this man says. HE was the guy who put the original chops in the ol' OS 9 vs. OS X fight – along with brother Thalo. I 'spect it's that NY influence. Everything I learned I learned from SR. He combined a frank and honest demeanor with a great sense of humor. Thalo has declared this Snobby Robby day at thalo.net and deservedly so. Great to have you back, SR.

It's an honor to be here. And you're much too kind. You're probably not aware of just how much you and thalo have influenced me and I'm sure countless others. OK...I'll knock it off before we all begin crying like little girlies and start resembling a certain lounge in a certain forum.

Welcome SR!! This site is getting better and better.

Thank you, MaX. Pleasure to be here. Once again, congratulations to you. I've missed your honest views immensely. I've always admired your relentlessness and kick ass attitude especially when sprinkled with your laugh-out-loud sarcastic wit and humor. Seems like some people just couldn't handle your truths, but that never stopped you. You, Brad, thalo and Thundarr. Man, we're off to a good start here.

we're off to a good start here. Time to crash into HH's workplace. If he's a stockbroker or sumpin' we bust in dressed like guys from the SEC and drag him off in handcuffs. It's okay. We're on a mission from Jobs.

brother yabor, that warms my shriveled black little heart, man. I told Kurt of MFI (after he wished us well) that it feels like part of my brain is still in a jar over at castle von Finck. And I believe the other X-Critics and the X-Men feel the same way. It's good to know that somebody still reads the locked 'Talk forum over there. I shouldn't have said anything, because watch him close it now. -- Snobby, my brother, I approved you the instant I saw your registration. I don't know what's up with the e-mail, you should have gotten one with an URL that approves you. And let me know if you want moderator status. I'd be honored to make you one, though none of us is really sure what it means. It might be some flavor of work as things get rolling, but I kinda doubt it. But you do get the keys to the kingdom, anyways. For any brothers who might be waiting for a confirm e-mail... if the mail didn't come within a minute or so from your registration, something got pooched with the infopop software; or else it didn't make it through a filter somewhere. I also noticed that if you use Mac Mail, you might have to copy and paste the URL into your browser, instead of clicking it. Mail sometimes doesn't like embedded URLs from generated html mails, I ran a test and when I clicked the link, squat happened. Entourage/Outlook yes, Mail no. Brother Griff, if you're out there: if you're still waiting for an e-mail, don't bother... I manually approved you when I saw you signed up. You're free to post.

I'd be honored to make you one, though none of us is really sure what it means. I'd have thought that was quite obvious, brother thalo. When things become too calm and settled, their job is to stir things us; sort of the opposite of a typical moderator. A "maderator".

Indeed, for fear of it being closed, during the past month I've been busy copying and pasting a large selection of posts - just to be on the safe side. I hope Brad Nelson will write some new songs. I enjoyed those very much.

I see 13 registered users, but I only count 8 participating. I can't believe that people would go so far as to register on THALO.net, then merely lurk. SR, nice to see ya around. Glad you figured out who I am. I'll bet you won't get banned in here.

quote: Oh yeah, I nearly laughed up a lung over some of those. And don't forget the haikus, the limericks... and I guarantee you some computer scholar in twenty years is going to write his thesis on analogies using that forum. Trouble is, some of the best stuff got killed. The Constitution (putting the moderator in the position of having to delete the entire US Constitution was a masterstroke)... some of the best hissy fits, an awful lot of the Snobby Robby opus I've been meaning to save some of the classics myself, but I'm too proud to go back there. Maybe before he deletes them for good, Kurt will donate the archives to the Smithsonian.

quote: LOL. I really don't think I could bait you. I'd have to ratchet things up a notch, feign a good amount of righteous indignation, and put on the best acting performance since Meryl Streep boinked the French Lieutenant. But you'd still likely see it coming from a mile away. Still, I think I could pull it off, but it would involve some complicated setup, much like a good practical joke. Thalo, what's your stand on abortion?

quote: Thanks for reminding me, Darr. Thalo, just how does one go about banning someone? I need to be prepared just in case the ALCS doesn't go my way. I hate gloaters, particularly YANKEE gloaters.

quote: Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen. Those ol' blue eyes tunes always put me in a mellow mood. Well, I hope you're having as good a time as I am tonight, and it looks like that couple at the front table is having even more. Mister, save somethin' for later. Get a room, willya? Ha ha ha. This next one goes out to a special friend of mine. I don't really know his name but he's the pickiest bastard I've ever met. But he does have good taste in art as well as in music – like this song from an old partner of Paul Simon: Aren't those towers out of sight? The finish on every iBook, a delight I only want Ive for cool The mood must be right No cheap plastic PC tool will I buy I only want Ive for cool You are dear, to my eye Bringing millions of people to style Why the hell didn't you do the GUI? And I only want Ive for cool
