A big day, my brothers. We're semi-legit as of this moment. Go to Google and type "crap-settling" or Yahoo! and type "thalo.net" or alta vista and type "thalo.net" or AOL search and type "thalo.net" or infospace and type "crap-settling"...
Yee friggin' HA! It's about time.
When did we open shop, my brothers, May 1 right? We didn't get crawled by anyone until today.
But damn, there goes a perfectly good conspiracy theory. Well, who knows, maybe we'll suddenly DISAPPEAR from Google, like certain links to us have in the past, then we'll know. And it's suspicious that "thalo.net" on Google gets no top level hits after being crawled by googlebot.
Yep. I typed "Crap Settling" in Google and thalo.net was the first seach result. Pop the champagne corks - and brace yourselves for a rush of Crap Settlers. Darr, since you're the #1 Crap Settler you've got your work cut out for you handling the orientation (or should we call it the "disorientation"?)

Type it in Google now, LOL. We got taken off already. We're still on Yahoo, but I knew it. This ain't all in my head. I can go back to being paranoid again.

I just typed in "Crap Settling" and it didn't put thalo.net at the top of the list as it did just 15 minutes ago, nor was it anywhere to be found. Hmmm.

yeah, definitely gone. I tried the exact same searches I tried yesterday, and we've been disappeared. BB, your browser may have cached yesterday.
Either somebody was slow on the trigger and we SLIPPED THROUGH yesterday, or the hammer dropped on us as a result of our first crawl.
I think the former, because I've seen thalo.net refs disappear before (refs meaning other sites linking to us... yesterday was the first time I'd seen the actual site listed).
But we're still on Yahoo, anyway. Let's keep an eye on them, because Google and Yahoo are in bed. It could be we made it on Yahoo for the first time yesterday , and Google and Yahoo share. So it took somebody to go and manually correct. I'm fairly certain we are on somebody's shit list. We're apparently bona fide badasses now. Hey, I can live with that.

Yes, that must have been what happened. The phenomenon of caching is sometimes nut-driving. The computer makes you think it’s responding diligently to your command but it’s actually sitting back, sipping a cup of Joe, feet kicked up reading the morning paper while it hands you yesterday’s news and thinks “The schlep will never know the difference.”

caching is fine for casual use surfing, or if you have a slow connection. You have to turn it off (IE > Preferences > Advanced > Cache: "Once per session") if you are a web designer and need to see your changes onLoad.
We're back again on Google, 3PM EST. I think the crawl gets to us at about this time. Keep an eye to see when and if we get squelched again, we might be able to figure out a pattern.
On Google, I'm the 3rd johnq listed...and that's before Denzel's movie, before some guy named John Quincy Adams, and even Mr. John Q. Public himself...

I wonder if Apple and the utilities making up the Niagara Mohawk power grid are in cahoots too. Looks like they can definitely squelch thalo by shutting off all the power on the eastern seaboard. A little drastic, but sometimes tough times call for tough measures.
I was in the middle of a long post when the blackout hit, so don't think that thought didn't cross my mind.
But you've seen the search engine thing with your own eyes. I called it. I knew it was going to happen, so I made sure to get witnesses.
Sure, if I use my imagination, I can come up with other reasonable explanations of why we were disappeared from both Yahoo and Google... but I also know a) how the world works; and b) that there are a lot of people out there with a lot of hurt feelings towards your old pal thalo.
But we're still on Altavista, anyway, and lookit the page they crawled. Evidence mounts for conspiracy, LOL. I'm getting that Big Brother itching on my scalp
