An OS X vs. PC article
Next we have the look of the Operating system, if anyone says Windows looks better than a Mac then they are without doubt, a liar. To be honest, one of the main reasons I switched to a Mac was because the operating system looked so damn good, Icons are gorgeous, transparency effects are great, fonts are clear, nearly every Mac comes with a Flat screen monitor now, colours are vivid, video is much clearer than on a PC, Windows and programs just look better, no jaggies, it is just generally a wonderful looking operating system and it is a real shame that Microsoft will take until 2005 to catch up with the looks of OS X that was released nearly 2 years ago. Now we are onto some Myth’s that people like to spread around, the first one is the price of a Windows PC compared to that of a Mac, now I paid for my iMac a few months ago, it was over £300 cheaper than a quite high range PC, so for those out there who keep telling me (and do you need to when I know what I paid?) that the Mac is always far more expensive than a PC, well you need to look around more. Next onto crashes, Windows crashes, everyone knows that, no one should really dispute it, although they try to, Mac’s don’t crash, or do they? Well yes they do, but it is far far rarer than that of a Windows PC, and it almost never brings you to have to reboot your Mac. So overall I enjoy my Mac more than my current top range PC, perhaps I am shallow and it is because of the great looks but the likelihood is that it is that on a Mac you have the best software for photos, movies, music and DVDs and a much lower chance of getting a virus than a Windows PC and I prefer Macromedia Studio on a Mac too! But that doesn’t mean I am forcing my views on anyone, if you have a PC and you like it and have no reason to switch, I won’t tell you to, enjoy what you have that’s all I say. Feel free to comment on this article below. Here is a little bit more about what you get from a Mac: It’s gorgeous Sticky notes Translucent terminal windows System wide spell checking Keychain password management An excellent e-mail program and spam filter built in Screen/Window grab program built-in Working voice recognition and spoken voice interface Tabbed browsing with Safari Regular OS Updates and improvements Easy installs of programs [BTW – love the double-spacing of these last things in the original article. Makes it seem like much more.] I'm forced to conclude that the reason they don't ship comprehensive manuals with the Macs anymore is to make room for the rose-colored glasses. |

Oh crap. An English major is in our midst. Better bone up on my grammar. Seriously, why in the world would you want to come to Thalo.net then? Brother Thalo is the worst abuser of incomplete sentences that I have ever seen. He's almost as bad as my never-ending over-use of hyphens and semicolons. Here's another choice opinion piece. Everybody has an opinion. That's why we're all here. That's what makes it fun. But scapegoating Microsoft because of problems that are Apple's own fault isn't the answer – in my opinion. |

I might suggest to the Mac faithful out there who see Macs as good and Microsoft as evil, to the point that they're in danger
of making a religion or cult out of it, that there's a better place than Apple.com to find those answers. Try Shalom Place where you'll find interesting discussions of many things relating to God, Jesus Christ, Catholicism,
Buddhism, politics and more. The AHIGs
may be the Mac's salvation but you'll not find your own in a computer.

quote: The difference is that thalo knows what he is doing. He can write paragraphs without using fragments and run-ons when he wants to do so. He makes the stylistic choice to write in a stream of consciousness punctuated by the rhythms of a beat poet, daddy-o. |

Thank you, brother ophion. I knew you could dig it. Brother Brad... Your final jeopardy answer: Incomplete, wildly tangential, fragmentary, and unresolved ideas are a characteristic of this operating system. Hey, when I am become metaphor, I go all out. When you-know-what is brief, succinct, clear, and elegantly structured... when it follows da rules, so too will I. Thalorun |

Hey, when I am become metaphor, I go all out.
I've been waiting a long time for that answer. Me Tarzan. You Jane. Okay. I. Get. it. But answer me this, brother thalo. If you really are a metaphor for OS X, and wish to represent it in the way you speak, then why is your spelling so good? Seems to me you should be dropping vowels every once in a while like a dropped mouse click, switching letters dyslexicly like the ass backwards windows widgets. When you go to drag a consonant to a word it should every so often drop somewhere else or not drop at all or hang somewhere in the sentence far from where you intended it, that sort of thing.
