This link is to quite possibly the first keynote Steve Jobs ever gave concerning the Macintosh. It was in 1984 and featured a prototype Macintosh 512k.

http://www.acm.uiuc.edu/~staffin/1984macintro.mov

It was one remarkeable machine. Its OS refined in thought and pure of purpose. The Classic Mac OS had no match. Microsoft couldn't best it despite their best efforts. The only company that could create something better, was Apple itself and they showed the entire world that they still had it and then some when its better in every possible way successor, Apple Macintosh Operating System X was born.

While the ever thinning ranks of the Whiner Niners continues to stew in this cesspool of sacrilege, blasphemy and a general rejection of Aqua based paradise I wanted you all to take a few minutes out of your self flaggelation to reflect on the greatness that is Apple and the Macintosh, ALL Macintosh. Not just Classic.

Semper fi uptime, you social flaws you. Till next time.

P.S. I will forever hold those days back on the MacFixitForums dear to my heart. They are now textbook training for all Apple Intelligence Officers who monitor all traitorous anti-Cupertino activities.

I have returned.

Brother NDP! Woo hoo! Great to see you man, how ya been?

Wow, what a link. Holy Hair on Jobs, huh? lol.

I literally have tears in my eyes to see Apple before the marketeers pooched the Mac. God, I had that same Mac, in that same bag.

Get it back, Steve. Not the hair. Just what you had then. Simplicity and honesty and a great interface.

D'ja see the crowd?

Computers can be that exciting again. All you have to do, is make them great. Not look down your nose from your aristocratic high horse. If you start from the assumption that people are friggin' morons, you get exactly what OS X currently is.

That old Mac wasn't PERFECTLY realized, but holy crap it was BETTER realized than this bloated monstrosity. And it was way, way less insulting to end users.

How does buying an existing OS, NeXTStep, from another company and slapping the Mac name on it become Apple "creating" anything?

I wasn't aware that eye-straining blurry screenfonts are "better in every possible way."

I'm with brother Markle.

And how on god's green earth did the Finder go from the BEST thing about the Mac, to the absolute WORST? The OS X interface is so slow, it makes the older, outdated legacy seem utterly superior with respect to speed/responsiveness and performance. Forget DESIGN for a minute (which is hard for me, but hey)... just on the level of speed. Uh, aren't computers supposed to get FASTER with time? Why OS X is dog slow is proof to me that it's cr--garbage.

It's got blue crystal sausages, THAT's why it's better. Roll Eyes

A look at how far we haven't come:

Particularly the WordPerfect/Frame demo which is nearly identical to the Pages demo at MWSF05 Big Grin

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. Working for Apple Inc Covert Ops keeps me busy. Fortunately we've been able to contain dissent to this one thalo.net domain.

People ARE friggin morons both in general and especially when it comes to computing. Where they not OS's like Mac OS X and Windows XP would simply not exist (neither would any previous version of Mac OS or Windows) and we'd all be proficient in the use of command line based systems such as Unix and Linux.

But we're not.

Because we're morons.

And thats ok. As long as we have genuises like Steve Jobs to lead us out of the darkness and into the light we need never be afraid of our computers again.

To prefer any previous version of the Mac OS to Mac OS X suggest a congenital mental defect or a serious social flaw.

Keep in mind I've read HighHopes posts on ad hominem attacks against the Niners. He makes some valid points such as "In a more generalize form, see how many times one of our "more vocal members" post something specific about OS X only to be answered, not with discussion about the OS, but rather with discussion about them. This has happened to all of us. We would talk about OS X, they would talk about us. This is a stupid man's tactic."

Yet at the same time I cannot but wonder that perhaps there really IS something wrong with those who those who not only dislike OS X but prefer the classic Mac OS to it. Many of the most glaring flaws of OS X have long since been fixed. On the central points of ease of use and a connection with the user, OS X EXCELLS here because it doesn't piss the user off by crashing or stalling or freezing. Its also more fluidic and just better flowing.

Also if you must insist on being blasphemous there are themes out there that will restore a good part of the "look" of the Crappy Classic Mac OS.

Now fall in line.

I have returned.
