Seems like Steve is doing all he can to kick PPC down the memory hole.
Through Apple discussions (those threads they didn't censor) it has become known that Logic Pro supports all 4 cores on the new MacPro, but only 2 on the Quad G5. The MacPro runs Logic 1,8 times as fast as the G5 natively with twice the number of cores. You do the math. Additionally, looking at the OpenSource-part of OS X you can see very clearly that Apple is slowly fading development on the ppc-branch WHILE THEY're STILL SELLING THE FUCKING QUAD G5 for 3.000 bucks. That's why Intel-updates are so much larger than ppc. I really feel pissed, ripped off and betrayed. I bought a new mini half a year ago and now they're crippling it software-wise just to make this stupid Intel-Switch look good. How dumb is that ? |

Well, depends, it makes perfectly sense from the economical viewpoint and that is all that seems to count these days. It's a moneymaking company and that's it. More money = better. I wouldn't call it "dumb", but lousy, dishonest, marketing-driven, fucked up to the core. Apple did the same with OS9. Away with the old, here comes the NEW crap. Proven facts? Pah, Apple tells its customers what to do, and what is hip and what MUST be used. ... And those addicts errr customers DO listen to their guru. |

It's totally evil to leverage customers into buying all new intel hardware by adjusting the operating system to behave more poorly on a PPC. That's just wrong.
That's forcing people to do your bidding, instead of SUPPORTING customers who bought your last line of shit... as in PPC's are the greatest thing in the world. |
