Your wish is my command. I changed my name for this forum as a symbolic gesture. The rest remains the same. Good to see you Trif. Looking forward to more of your poignant analyses of the spatial Finder!
Oh man, Beatle rocked! If you can remember, he initially was an avid X-Man, calling OS 9 archaic, but that didn't last very long. He finally saw the light after playing in OS X and realizing that it was nothing but an unfinished beta product.
Now here's somebody who had an open mind and actually WANTED to love X from the very beginning (as most of us did), but just couldn't after a fair trial period. He was to the point and always called a spade a spade. A funny guy too.

Right. I rememberd that. And that's what gave him honorary X-Critic status. It was the penultimate "Less is More" interface.
I just found out about this board a few days ago. It's good to see everyone come back to life. Things have been SO boring over at MFI/TI since that black week in March when mAxximo was banished and soon after, thalo "run out of town by the pitchfork crowd" to quote Brad. And more recently, OldTech was so vilified, that she too was sent fleeing. But if you look at the posts and the read counts since the new no-dissent standards have been so vigorously enforced they have really screwed themselves, any interest I might have in posting there, and their value to their own advertisers.
Now that Quark for X is out and Pantser is on the way, I'm sure there will be many more issues to discuss. Thank you to thalo for giving us a place to discuss them with the freedom that our constitution guarantees us on the street, but certain controllers of public/private fora see fit to constrain.

NE-O! NE-O! NE-O! Welcome aboard, my brother! The more geniuses, the better, man. Nah-ah, don't thank me, thank YOU for joining. I'm glad you found the board.
I agree 100% that Quark and Panther are going to raise a ton of issues. My first issues are, do I want to spend $200 for X-Quark which a) I probably won't use, as it's bound to just be Aquafied Quark 5... and 2) do I want to spend $200 for an upgrade that is going to have to get an upgrade the second Panther comes out?
I have been burned time and again with these so-called "native" releases. Not one of them does their job any better than the comparable legacy app... plus I have to put up with the crappy interface. And hey, it's not like I have anything against Quark. I think those guys know what they are doing. So does Adobe. The weakest link is Apple and this beast of an OS. I want to start seeing reasons that the X-versions of pro design apps are better than the 9 versions. They're not. They're merely struggling to get caught up with an operating system that itself is wildly unfinished. And who suffers? Mac pros.
