Hey, has anyone noticed the completely less-is-more plain grey headers of your basic Apple html e-mail? Note that these are not, I repeat NOT mind-metal. Not the stupid brushed aluminum texture. Just plain, flat, and graphical. I really like them. Just like I like the startup screen for OS X with just the logo and the hypnotizer. Looking at those two little bits of graphic design, I wonder why they can't take that minimalist simplicity and run with it. Build a whole interface around it. Quiet. Grey. Simple. Eye-candy free. Somebody somewhere in Apple's design department is starting to get it. They're so close. They're just one or two "what ifs" from getting it. From understanding less is more and getting pros out from under the yoke of ridiculous eye candy.

Brother thalo, are you too lazy to post a picture or am I too lazy to go and see what you're talking about? That would, of course, require booting into OS X. Masochist.

I'm too lazy to post a picture, my brother. No seriously, I'm flat out right now. While still trying to enjoy what's left of summer. But don't worry, I've been trying to do some of my work in OS X to unbelievably disastrous effects, and I feel a few rants coming on. This beast just gets worse and worse. And it's just so. damn. slow. And so. damn. easy. to. break. When you most need it to be stable, it folds. I don't see how Apple can use the word "stability" with a straight face ever again. You don't get Apple eNews, the html version? It's definitely worth it to see the party line. I mean, I can tell EXACTLY how things are going to suck, by the way Apple talks them up. I can tell EXACTLY where they are soft by what they decide to highlight, or NOT to highlight. It always seems really heavy on the audio arts, and almost nothing on the visual. My favorite blurb was "the blackout ate my homework"... that's code for "OS X ate my homework." Blackouts are rare. OS X's flaky behavior is most certainly not.
