It's like what happened with anodized fly reels too. But the color that is missing with the Mac? Black. Anodized black is quite beautiful. And jeez, can you imagine black powerbooks with the glowing logo?

I really liked the design of the cube. That was a great design defeated by low quality manufacturing (the mold lines). I'm hoping Apple doesn't fall into the same trap with the G5... nobody buying it during the getting-the-kinks-worked-out phase. I don't see many G5s IRL, except in stores. And the fact Apple is pushing them so hard, and delaying the next revision, might be evidence that it ain't WORTH it to them to speedbump, because no pros are biting.

Here I am, ready to go... but I know the speedbump is coming and I hold back. Normally, I'd even hold back ANOTHER rev. If I had done that on the Cinema Display, I'd have had fewer headaches. Because rev 3 was the cherry.

Another thing I see happening, is building G5s thin, like X servers, but mounting them behind big TFTs. With top-slot loading disk drives like the cube.
