I know I'm camera-less at the moment, but we've just got to get some more action going among you photographers out there. Every one of you has shown some real talent. So I'm going to push and risk getting nothing but an uncomfortable silence: Show me summer turning into fall. Early signs, subtle signs, glaring signs, unusual signs, weird signs, whatever. On our flesh we feel that first chill in the air on those late August and early September mornings. It's a hint of what is to come even if the sun does soon burn away that fleeting cool. But what does that look like?

Sadly, it's nothing about manual control, "still" is normal shooting mode, Conti. S-C.. and M-C... are sequential shooting modes. Scene Modes are a bunch of special modes for nightshots, movies, scenery, etc. Nice, but this camera doesn't offer real manual modes... :-/ ...
Snap focus is IMHO nothing else but a fixed focus mode, at least that's what i know. Focussed at approx. 2.5m (It's listed in my R6-Manual ) for group shots, streets, whatever. Works for street photography and other situations where focussing-delay is simply not needed at all. It IS fast, but you must be aware of the downsides and take pictures with this in mind. Ha, i just read a bit in your link. Thanks for that! So everything is more or less sharp from hyperfocal point to infinity. Makes sense.

Snap focus sounds like the Bradillio 7 focuses to infinity so the camera will not hunt for a focus point. As smithz stated it IS fast. I worked with an Olympus 2200? that was state of the art around 2000. The Olympus had a focus setting for infinity which allowed the camera to take pictures without the auto focus constantly hunting for a focus point. The down side you had to reset it every time you turned the camera on. The depth of field is so great on small sensor cameras that snap focus can work and well.

I really love the interplay of the gold and the green, Rico. Where are there grapes in your area? My brother's got an acre or so planted. They will actually grow in western Washington which was definitely news to me until fairly recently.

Those grapes are growing out my window. The squirrel's are cultivating them high up in the tree. I am not sure what kind of tree that is either but it is very distinct the way the seed pods grow.

I don't think I'd ever seen a growing grapevine in my life (at least not up close and personal) until my brother started cultivating them. I think the leaves on those things are really beautiful. I think he grows a couple varieties of pinot noirs. I don't think he has a lot of choice in the matter because there are some climate issues. But what he does grow are fantastic. He already has a small winery ready to buy most of them. It's easy to forget just what magic a fruiting plant really is. You see those ordered bunches of purple, ripe grapes and it looks like an icon, not fruit. If I ever make it down to Colly-fohnya (and I'd have to stop in to see brother Markle), I'd love nothing more than to see avocados growing on a tree. Forget Disneyland. Take me to the guacamole. And on the other side of this thread, iPhones have just come down $200. Woo hoo!

You can eat those leaves. You blanch, then brine them for a few days, rinse, then stuff them with lamb and meat and spices, roll 'em up and cook them. Recipe. If you have them cold, you can hit 'em with a little olive oil and lemon juice before serving.

Thanks for the very cool recipe. I had no idea you could eat the leaves. I forwarded that link on to my older brother. I'll report back if he or his wife try it. My sister-in-law is an absolute health nut. (Eyeroll. I'm not exaggerating one bit.) She might like that one because it looks right up her alley.

No, Snap focus is not the same as infinity, because the R6 also have a "infinity"-focus mode. Btw, some nice shots you posted.

My only problem with stuffed grape leaves, is that they are fairly labor intensive. And I can usually go right down to the gourmet market and buy them already made. A pint container of them is only about three bucks. They're usually the vegetarian variety, cold, in olive oil. But they are damn good. They go great with some GOOD pita bread (hard to find, most of the storebought pita is crap), hummus, greek style yogurt, kalamata olives.

From the sounds of it, I would guess the quality store-bought ones would be the way to go -- unless one had a lot of succulent grape leaves lying around and had the time. But it sounds like the grape leaves would only get better being marinated in that olive oil.

that movie is freakin' awesome.

That is just fantastic. I think I counted over a billion boats. I like this frame near the end.

Hehe, i thought about removing that special frame, but it would've turned the whole sequence into a lie then, plus (even more important) it would distroy the smooth motion. So i kept it. Glad you liked it. Did you watched the 800x600 version?
