Any help would be appreciated - but be careful. If you have the font I may ask you to set those two words above, convert to outlines, and email me an eps.

Well thanks for all the god damn help out there from you "Pros" at thalo.net (huge wink). What I ended up doing was Streamlining and cleaning up a pretty good jpg that I had (which was all anybody had). What a nightmare. Yeah, that's one of the things I do for a living. I used to see a lot of that several years ago; creating vector art from art before the computer age. Now most of the time I do it is because someone has totally lost the original art files.

Brad I had a chance to ask our typographer what type he thought it might be sorry he was not in last week. He was not sure but he thinks it possibly could be old typositor type if that makes any sense to you. It most likely is a custom created script font because of the way things are squared off in his opinion. He suggested possibly kuenstler or Excelsior as points of reference.

Thanks, Rico. I appreciate the help. I'm not sure what "old typositor type" is. Anyway, all's well that ends well. As long as they don't blow up the logo to billboard porportions (and even then), I'll be okay.

The Typositor type used film reels with the fonts on them. There were only a few companies that actually made the equipment and supplied the fonts on the reels so the fonts were very custom. I think it was the transition in the print industry right before computers made them obsolete.

quote: Hit me on the head with a mallet and call me stupid. I guess that term just didn't ring a bell. I loaded those font film strips into a Comp IV at least a thousand times. The things could hold two film strips at a time, if I recall correctly. One needed to really think ahead when going into the compositing room with several file folders of jobs to do. I also worked on an old EditWriter VIII (I think that's the name/model). It was a big advance because you could save jobs onto large floppies. I don't quite remember how the fonts were changed. It may have been similar.
