That's exactly what it sounds like to me. Like Apple apologists are so damn afraid to not like stupid nonworking interface shit, that they feel compelled to make all these excuses and don't-get-me-wrongs.
There comes a time to just fess up and say guys? It's not fucking working. There's too much interface. Too many variations, to many ways into the same damn functionality, when there should be ONE way. One good, intuitive way. Spotlight makes sense from the finder window, if you're gonna put that search field in there. If you decide to kill that field in your Finder windows, OK, I can see having it in the menubar.
